The Effects of Carrying a Single-Strap Bag Positioned Differently on Peak Vertical Ground Reaction Forces and Postural Stability: a Pilot Study

چکیده
Aim: Single-strap bags cause asymmetric load-carrying and postural asymmetry. This study aimed to investigate the effects of a single-strap bag on peak vertical ground reaction forces (PVGRFs) and on postural stability when it is worn in different positions. Methods: 6 volunteer women were assessed in the Human Movement Laboratory. Force platforms were used to measure both the ground reaction forces (GRFs) during gait cycle and postural sways during a standing task. All of the measures were taken without bag, with bag on shoulder, and with bag on forearm. Results: Bag carriage on the forearm increased postural sway (p<0.05). However, not significant changes were found in PVGRFs. Conclusion: Single-strap bag usage on the forearm negatively affects women`s balance. The backpack is commonly worn in the daily life of children and young adults, whereas the majority of adults prefer to use other types of bags (5). A single-strap bag carriage is popular among women (1). It causes asymmetrical loading and postural compensation (1,6). These problems increase shearing forces at the joints and compressive forces produced by muscles (1). Moreover, while walking, the pattern

Effect of Fatigue on Ground Reaction Force Variables During Single-leg Landing in Athletes With the History of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury
Introduction: Since people experience fatigue after anterior cruciate ligament injury during exercises, it is important to understand how fatigue affects the biomechanical movement patterns. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of fatigue on ground reaction force variables during single-leg landing in athletes with a history of an anterior cruciate ligament spr...

Introduction and aim: Taping is a common method used by athletes to improve muscular function. The aim was to assess the immediate effect of femoral external rotational and abductoral taping on three-dimensional ground reaction force characteristics, their time to peak, impulse, displacement of center of pressure, vertical loading rate, and free moment during stance phase of running. Method: 24...

Genu varus is one of the malalignment of the lower limbs, the failure to correct it leads to secondary abnormalities in adulthood. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a corrective exercise program on ground reaction forces, loading rates, impulses and free moment during stance phase of walking. 17 children with genu varus were volunteered to participate in this study (Ag...
